Refreshed Angle With Photographer Nathan Grimes

Nathan Grimes (b. 2001, Minnesota) is a photographer currently based in the Washington D.C. area, and working in photo production. In his personal work, Nathan enjoys photographing daily life and all that comes along with it. His range of subjects have allowed him to photograph many different things, but boardsports are a favorite. Growing up skateboarding during the summer, and snowboarding on the small but snowy hills around suburban Minneapolis, photographing snowboarders felt right at home.

During college, with many of his friends riding for the school’s ski/snowboard team, he used his student photography job to gain access to team competitions and events. Since the events were often heavily photographed, he looked for new and unique ways to capture the sport that felt more true to its culture. It’s not common for a college to have a program like this, so being able to document it was special.
